Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke is seeking a Senior Police Supervisor I (Lieutenant) to provide mid-level management and supervise sworn officers and civilian staff within the Police & Public Safety Department.

This role oversees daily division operations, directing patrol and security efforts, coordinating investigations and events, serving as event commander, and may assume command in the Chief’s absence. Requires a bachelor’s degree and substantial sworn LE experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET).
• Current certification or eligibility within 30 days.
• Bachelor's degree or higher; 6 years sworn law enforcement experience.
• Associate degree; 8 years sworn law enforcement experience.
• At least 3 years in a supervisory role equivalent to Police Sergeant.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily division operations.
• Supervise sworn Sergeants and non-sworn staff.
• Serve as event commander for special events.
• Assume command in absence of Chief/Assistant Chief.
• Coordinate with other law enforcement agencies as needed.
