Job summary

UNC Pembroke is seeking a Lieutenant (Senior Police Supervisor) to provide daily mid-level management of a Police & Public Safety division on the campus in Pembroke, NC. You will supervise sworn and non-sworn staff and ensure operations meet safety, legal, and accreditation standards.

The role requires a Law Enforcement certification and significant supervisory experience in higher education. The Lieutenant may command special events and serve in the EOC as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or greater required and six (6) years sworn law enforcement experience or an associate degree with eight (8) years sworn law enforcement experience.
• Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience at the level of Sergeant or higher.
• Current NC Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification or certification eligible within 30 days.
• NC Law Enforcement Certification through the NC CJETSC is required.
• Duties include patrol operations, investigations, training, accreditation, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily mid-level management and supervisory oversight to the assigned division.
• Direct and lead subordinate personnel, including sworn Sergeants and non-sworn staff.
• Oversee patrol operations, security, investigations, and evidence management.
• Coordinate training, records management, Clery compliance, and grant management.
• Serve as event commander for special events and act as liaison to other agencies.
