Ball State University in Indiana is seeking a Plumbing and Welding Supervisor to oversee the work of plumbers and welders on campus, coordinating construction, renovation, maintenance, and repairs to university buildings and equipment.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent.
• Over five years of experience in the appropriate trade and at least three years of supervisory experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Indiana Driver's License and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy.
• Personal computer and software proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the activities of plumbers and welders in construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair projects to ensure compliance with established programs, standards, and procedures.
• Prepare cost estimates and material requisitions for projects and renovations; inspect work in process and completed work to ensure efficiency of operations and adherence to cost estimate.
• Assign and review work, orient and train staff, and make recommendations in supervision including interviewing and selection, compensation, discipline, performance appraisal, and training and career development.
• Monitor and enforce all safety, shop, and university rules and regulations; report problems to the Superintendent of Building Maintenance and resolve problems appropriately.
• Coordinate with users and departments to determine project requirements; discuss modifications and facilitate resolution of project problems; review changes to blueprints and job specifications.
• Monitor work orders to completion; manage change orders for additional work.
• Update and train workers on chemicals, environmental and safety concerns, and MSDS/OSHA regulations; stay informed on EH&S programs.
• Plan and implement preventative maintenance programs; use work order systems and monitor backlog and repeat work.
• Prepare reports with analyses and recommendations; generate reports using spreadsheets and word processing software.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
