Job summary

Marshall University in Huntington, WV is seeking a skilled Painter to maintain interior and exterior surfaces across campus buildings. You will prepare surfaces, patch and finish drywall, apply paints and finishes, and ensure clean, safe work sites and compliant with environmental requirements.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license, plus at least 1 year of painting experience.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• 1 year experience performing skilled painting work.
• Preferred: completion of a vocational, technical, or apprenticeship program in painting, coatings, or building trades.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled painting work in the preparation, patching, finishing, and maintaining of interior and exterior surfaces across university buildings and furniture.
• Prepares surfaces for painting using sandpaper, power sanders, steel wool, wire brushes, scrapers, fillers, and primers.
• Applies paints, stains, varnishes, enamel, or lacquer using brushes, rollers, and/or sprayers and related tools.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work site and complies with environmental protection and safety regulations.
• Restores work sites to original condition after completion and moves or returns furniture and equipment as needed.
