Job summary

Highlands College is seeking a Part-Time Painter to support the Facilities & Maintenance Department with interior and exterior painting across campus buildings. Responsibilities include surface prep, minor drywall repairs, and assisting with turnover work and facility refresh projects to maintain clean, presentable surfaces.

The role emphasizes following CARE standards and safety guidelines while working on ladders and elevated surfaces.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous painting or construction experience preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of interior and exterior painting methods preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform interior and exterior painting of walls, ceilings, doors, trim, railings, and building components.
• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching drywall, and applying primer as needed.
• Repair minor drywall damage including holes, dents, nail pops, and seam cracks prior to painting.
• Assist with painting during housing turnovers, facility refreshes, and campus improvement projects.
• Apply paint, stain, sealants, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
• Match existing paint colors and finishes when required.
• Protect surrounding surfaces using masking, drop cloths, and protective coverings.
• Maintain clean job sites and properly store paint, tools, and equipment after use.
• Assist with pressure washing and surface preparation for exterior paint projects.
• Support other facilities maintenance tasks when painting work is limited.
• Follow safety guidelines when working on ladders, lifts, and elevated surfaces.
