Job summary

Student PIRGs is hiring Campus Organizers to mobilize students on more than 100 college campuses across the United States. You’ll help build a greener, healthier future by organizing campaigns on the environment, public health, democracy and consumer protections.

You will recruit volunteers, train student organizers, build coalitions, and run summer canvassing to fundraise and generate grassroots support for key campaigns. This role emphasizes leadership and initiative on campus.

Qualifications

• Have a demonstrated commitment to environmental, public interest and/or student issues, and a track record of leadership.
• Are goal-driven and results-oriented.
• Have excellent communication skills.
• Are driven, work well with all kinds of people and aren’t afraid to get outside their comfort zones.
• Are passionate about making positive change and willing to work hard daily.

Responsibilities

• Recruiting and inspiring hundreds of people to volunteer to collect petitions, host campaign events and more.
• Help students run strategic campaigns and train them to run campaigns such as eliminating single-use plastics, protecting wildlife and making college more affordable.
• Build a coalition with student volunteers and organizations.
• Training students to be effective social change leaders, including media outreach and community education.
• Build a strong, student-funded and student-run organization on campus through fundraising and relationships.
• Run a citizen outreach campaign office during the summer and lead canvassers for fundraising and grassroots support.
• Build the movement by recruiting volunteers, interns and more organizers to work with us.
• Exercising discretion and independent judgment in matters of significance.
