Job summary

Student PIRGs is hiring organizers to work on college campuses across the country, helping students build campaigns on environmental protection, public health, democracy, and consumer protection.

You will recruit volunteers, train students, build coalitions, and lead citizen outreach campaigns in the summer. The role includes a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities to grow as a leader.

Qualifications

• A demonstrated commitment to environmental, public interest and/or student issues, and a track record of leadership.
• Goal-driven and results-oriented.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Driven, work well with all kinds of people and aren’t afraid to get outside their comfort zones.
• Passionate about making positive change. Change takes time, and is often incremental; we’re looking for people who are excited to work hard every day, even if it’s just for one small step in the right direction.

Responsibilities

• Recruiting and inspiring hundreds of people to volunteer to collect petitions, host campaign events and more.
• Helping students run strategic campaigns and train them to lead campaigns.
• Building coalitions with student volunteers and organizations.
• Training students to be effective social change leaders and engage media and officials.
• Building a strong, sustainable, student‑run organization on campus through fundraising and relationships.
