Job summary

Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County is seeking a Campus Maintenance Mechanic to perform skilled maintenance on campus building systems and assets. You will conduct preventive maintenance, inspect mechanical and safety systems, and repair electrical, plumbing, and carpentry elements to ensure safe, reliable operations.

The role requires knowledge of building systems, compliance with safety standards, and the ability to coordinate with contractors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and two years of skilled maintenance and/or repair work on electrical, environmental, or mechanical building systems.
• Eight years facility maintenance experience with safety training.
• Powered Industrial Truck certification required within six months of employment.
• Defensive Driving Course completion within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
• Inspects and monitors mechanical systems including thermostats, valves, and controls.
• Repairs and maintains electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems.
• Inspects fire extinguishers, alarms, and sprinkler systems and documents findings.
• Assists with landscaping, bioretention and stormwater structures.
• Operates heavy equipment and keeps detailed maintenance records.
• Drives vehicles and secures loads, assists with special projects.
• Coordinates with contractors and adheres to regulations and procedures.
