Job summary

The University of Southern Indiana is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform skilled maintenance across a multi-building campus in Evansville, IN. This 2nd shift, non-exempt position involves carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and general repairs.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, repairs from blueprints or work orders, event setup, and building renovations. Requires a high school diploma/GED, vocational trades training, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED required.
Require vocational training and/or experience in trades including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and/or heating and air conditioning.
Valid driver’s license required.
Knowledge of microcomputers, word processing, spreadsheet, and electronic mail software required.

Responsibilities

Tend to preventive and general maintenance of the University’s structures, equipment, furnishings, and systems.
Work from blueprints, drawings, work orders, or oral instructions to construct and repair University assets.
Plan and execute basic building maintenance and renovation projects, determine tasks, layouts, and estimating materials and labor costs.
Assemble furniture, seats, and other equipment.
Set up furniture and equipment for events.
Perform carpentry tasks related to maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and construction projects.
Perform plumbing tasks related to maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and construction projects.
Repair and install windows, doors, partitions, roofing components, floor tiles, and related items.
