HealthFitness is hiring a part‑time Lifeguard to join the Harvard Recreation aquatics team in Cambridge, MA. The role is 10–15 hours per week, ideal for students or anyone seeking flexible hours in a team‑oriented setting.

You’ll monitor pool safety, enforce rules, and provide a welcoming environment for campus members and guests. The position requires Lifeguarding certification (CPR/AED), a positive attitude, and good customer service.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.
• Meet HealthFitness Fitness and Skill standards.
• Be dependable, alert and able to interact with people of all ages in a positive manner with strong customer service skills.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; and working knowledge of the member management system.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure safety and well‑being of patrons using the aquatic facilities.
• Enforce and explain rules as necessary.
• Respond appropriately to any emergency.
• Perform chemical testing and document results for three bodies of water and a hot tub four times a day.
• Attend all required staff meetings and training.
• Assist with towels, cleaning, water machines and facility inspections to maintain a safe environment.
