Job summary

St. Edward's University in Austin, TX invites applications for the position of Electrician (Journeyman).

The Electrician performs installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems across campus, including wiring, fixtures, motors and control systems, to ensure safety and reliability. The role requires reading blueprints, working with low to high-voltage systems, performing tests, and complying with NEC and safety rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Texas Journeyman license required.
• Experience in government or higher education environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret NFPA/ICC codes and OSHA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Respond to work orders across campus and perform electrical maintenance.
• Identify and replace lamps, ballasts, switches, fixtures, and panels.
• Run conduit, thread wires, and repair electrical systems campus-wide.
• Restore power and troubleshoot outages following procedures.
• Read complex drawings and ensure compliance with codes.
• Maintain CMMS documentation and assist other trades as needed.
• Work on call on a rotating basis with facilities personnel.

Education
