Job summary

Westtown School in West Chester, PA, is seeking an experienced, full-time HVAC Technician to support repair, operation, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, and related building systems across campus.

The role requires a strong technical background, safety focus, and the ability to work both independently and with the Facilities team. On-call weekend rotation and essential personnel status are part of the job requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three to five years of experience in HVAC, electrical, or a related skilled trade.
• Working knowledge of electrical principles and the National Electrical Code.
• Experience with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems and read blueprints/schematics.
• Familiarity with safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and codes.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate School vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, electrical, and related building systems campus-wide.
• Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, heaters, and mechanical systems.
• Maintain central boiler plant daily and monitor performance for efficiency and repairs.
• Keep accurate records for preventive maintenance, parts, and scheduling.
• Plan, install, and modify equipment and components per codes and project needs.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate electrical controls and devices.
• Interpret blueprints and schematics to diagnose issues and complete repairs.
• Follow safety procedures and local codes during maintenance work.
• Participate in on-call weekend rotation and emergency response.
• Be available during inclement weather and school closings as essential personnel.
