Job summary

Fork Union Military Academy is seeking an experienced HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities and Maintenance team in central Virginia. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the Academy's HVAC systems, while supporting general campus maintenance and seasonal projects.

The ideal candidate has HVAC training and EPA Section 608 certification, with experience in building maintenance and the ability to work independently or within a team.

Qualifications

• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (Types I, II, and III) required.
• Knowledge and experience in HVAC troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
• General building maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to identify mechanical problems and determine appropriate solutions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must successfully complete required background checks and participate in the Academy's drug-testing program.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems and related equipment.
• Perform preventive HVAC maintenance including filters, belts, motors, thermostats, and controls.
• Diagnose HVAC problems and complete repairs or corrective actions.
• Respond to maintenance requests and complete work orders.
• Install or assist with installation of HVAC equipment and related facility hardware.
• Assist with general campus maintenance, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
• Support seasonal projects, storm prep and campus maintenance needs.
• Collaborate with Maintenance team, contractors, vendors, faculty, and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
