Job summary

University of Central Florida seeks an HVAC Specialist I to maintain a safe, functional campus environment. You will troubleshoot HVAC issues, perform maintenance, and respond to service requests, with on-call duties and rotating shifts to support departmental needs.

Ideal candidates have HVAC maintenance experience, EPA certification, and familiarity with IWMS or similar software. On-site work in Florida, with safety training and potential respiratory examinations.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in heating, ventilation and/or air conditioning, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• EPA Certification or training in HVAC maintenance practices.
• 2+ years hands-on experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance on HVAC systems.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated areas.
• Valid Class E driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform corrective repairs to restore HVAC and refrigeration system functionality.
• Install, maintain, test, and calibrate HVAC components across campus.
• Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to prevent equipment failures.
• Complete PM-related repairs and document labor hours, parts used, and job status.
• Assist campus departments and contractors with support work as needed.
