Job summary

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) invites applications for an HVAC Building Service Engineer. Under supervision, you will maintain, service, repair, and inspect heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems across campus, including decentralized utilities and the Central Plant.

Ideal candidates bring journey-level HVAC experience, familiarity with boiler and chiller equipment, and the ability to work with trade staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; journey-level HVAC experience needed.
• Must have knowledge of boilers, chillers, pumps and HVAC controls.
• Ability to read and follow maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, repair and inspect HVAC equipment including boilers, chillers and ventilating systems.
• Test, adjust and calibrate control instruments and systems.
• Maintain and inspect steam, gas, water and oil distribution systems.
• Adjust air handling equipment to balance airflow, temperature and humidity.
• Repair and replace bearings, shafts, seals, electrical wiring, and related components.
