Job summary

Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi is seeking a Maintenance Technician for Islander Housing to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on university housing facilities, including residence halls and apartments.

The role reports to the Facilities Director and requires knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems, plus the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions. This is a full-time, on-site position in Corpus Christi, TX.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year of related maintenance experience is required.
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and other building systems.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, and contractors.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work on-call and after hours as needed.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, and work in cramped or awkward positions for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular preventative maintenance and repairs on residential facilities, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, HVAC, and other systems.
• Respond to resident requests for maintenance or repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
• Use of ladders and small lifts.
• Conduct regular inspections of residential units to identify and address potential maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repair work completed.
• Work with contractors and vendors as needed to complete larger maintenance projects.
• Operate a TAMUCC vehicle and/or golf cart to navigate to and from worksites.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.
