Job summary

Phillips Exeter Academy is seeking a part-time Central Heating Plant Operator to oversee daily operations of the Central Heating Plant, including monitoring steam systems, alarms, and campus utilities. This on-site role supports the Academy's facilities during the 2nd shift and requires attention to safety and reliability.

The position emphasizes problem-solving, logging data via CMMS, coordinating with supervisors, and ensuring essential services for campus buildings.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Some college experience helpful.
HVAC field training required.
Building automation systems training preferred.
License as Stationary Engineer preferred.
Experience in steam plant operation or maintenance.

Responsibilities

Perform routine daily operations on steam generating equipment and ice rink systems.
Monitor and operate steam generation equipment and auxiliaries.
Control manual and automated systems and record readings.
Stand boiler plant watch and perform firefighter duties as required.
Record pressures, temperatures and water levels; monitor fuel pressure.
Maintain logs of temps, pressures, and water levels.
Monitor ice rink equipment, ammonia and brine temperatures.
Operate equipment-using computers, PLCs, meters and tools.
Use CMMS to receive, document, and complete work orders.
Report defects and wear through CMMS; monitor alarms and priorities.
Be available for on-campus work for inspections/maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
