Job summary

RISD seeks a Nurse Case Manager to support student health and success, managing a caseload of students with complex medical needs. This role blends direct nursing care with case management, education, and referrals to community providers to promote continuity of care.

The position requires RN licensure in Rhode Island, BLS, and at least five years of nursing experience. EMR proficiency and strong collaboration with campus staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license current in Rhode Island
• BLS certification required
• Minimum five years nursing experience
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team
• EMR experience required
• Experience with diverse populations including LGBTQ+ students
• Familiarity with HIPAA and FERPA and college health standards of practice

Responsibilities

• Triage concerns, perform nursing assessments, and refer to a Nurse Practitioner as needed
• Manage student immunization compliance and ensure regulatory policy adherence
• Monitor immunization compliance via EMR and report trends
• Coordinate care and transportation for emergent or urgent cases within Health Services
• Provide health counseling on nutrition, substance use, contraception, STI/HIV, and wellness
• Support wellness initiatives and campus outreach on health trends
• Follow standing orders to administer immunizations, order STI testing, and provide emergency contraception when appropriate
• Collaborate with RIDOH Vaccine program to deliver on-campus vaccines
• Maintain accurate documentation of student encounters and care plans in EMR
