Job summary

Reed College is seeking a Grounds Technician to join our Facilities team to maintain campus grounds, irrigation systems, and outdoor spaces. This full-time, non-exempt role requires physical work in various weather, operating tractors, mowers, and power tools, with attention to safety and teamwork. Starting pay is $21.25 per hour.

Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with a half-hour lunch. The position is represented by Teamsters Local Union No.

Qualifications

• 6 months of landscape or grounds maintenance experience.
• Active applicators license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractors, riding mowers, blowers, sweepers to maintain campus grounds.
• Maintain beds, turf, trees, shrubs, and hardscape with routine upkeep.
• Manage invasive plants using IPM processes.
• Supervise student workers and assign tasks to support tasks.
• Maintain irrigation systems and perform basic winterizing procedures.
• Keep sidewalks, roads, parking lots, and other hard surfaces clean.
• Respond to weather-related needs including snow or ice as required.
