Job summary

The College of New Jersey is hiring a Grounds Worker to maintain campus grounds on a full-time schedule. The role runs Wednesday through Sunday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, at the Maintenance Building in Ewing Township, NJ. Salary is set within state internal/external ranges and includes union considerations.

Responsibilities include lawn and shrub maintenance, operation of grounds equipment, and adherence to safety protocols. Benefits and residency requirements apply to eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of methods used to plan, lay out, and perform lawn and grounds maintenance work.
• Ability to properly use equipment, materials, tools, and supplies, and to train patients and inmates in their proper handling and maintenance.
• Ability to propagate trees, shrubs, and perennials, and to direct pruning, weeding, mowing, and trimming.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties involved in maintenance of institutional grounds, including soil preparation, seeding, watering, mowing, pruning, trimming, and maintenance of related equipment.
• Reports unfamiliar incidents or conditions on the grounds and takes steps to ensure safe, orderly conditions.
• Conducts snow removal and ice control as needed, day or night.
• Other duties as assigned.
