Job summary

Mercer County Community College in West Windsor (and nearby Trenton) is seeking a Grounds Worker to maintain campus grounds, athletic fields, and outdoor spaces to high safety and appearance standards.

You will operate and maintain grounds equipment, perform seasonal tasks including snow removal, and collaborate with Facilities staff to support daily operations across both campuses; a valid NJ driver’s license and physical stamina are required, with college benefits including tuition waivers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of grounds, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance experience preferred.
• Valid New Jersey drivers license and ability to maintain driving privileges.
• Ability to obtain DEP pesticide operator license (if required by assignment).
• Ability to obtain forklift certification if needed for assigned duties.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Working knowledge of grounds equipment, including stand-on, zero-turn, and push mowers, weed whackers, blowers, edgers, chainsaws, and related.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine grounds maintenance including mowing, edging, seeding, and turf care.
• Plant, prune, water, fertilize, mulch, and remove trees, shrubs, and perennial beds.
• Remove leaves, debris, litter, and maintain walkways and landscaped beds.
• Operate and maintain grounds equipment safely.
• Support snow removal and seasonal tasks.
• Complete work orders and assist with campus grounds tasks.
