Job summary

The University of Virginia, represented by The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia, is seeking Landscapers to help maintain the Grounds on campus in Charlottesville, VA. This on-site role offers a starting hourly wage between $15.00 and $18.00, based on experience, and requires working with university grounds teams to keep landscapes healthy and attractive.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• Valid Virginia driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Garden bed maintenance: weed pulling, mulching, pruning, watering and planting.
• Turf care: mowing, trimming, aerating, overseeding, fertilizing, sodding.
• Maintain grounds cleanliness: pick up litter, sweep patios/walks, empty trash/recycling.
• Respond to weather conditions to maintain access; operate trucks/equipment for snow/ice clearance.
• Work during nonstandard shifts with short notice when required.
• Follow safety rules and procedures (OSHA, etc.).
• Assist with event setup; may require weekend/evening work.
• Operate and perform minor maintenance on landscaping equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Other duties as assigned.
