Job summary

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking a Grounds Technician to support the Campus Grounds team. The role covers turf maintenance, irrigation, shrubbery care, pruning, and seasonal plantings to uphold campus aesthetics and safety.

Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, snow/ice removal during winter, and supporting essential operations during events. A valid NC driver’s license and pesticide license within a year are required, with training opportunities and competitive

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in horticulture or related field, or equivalent experience.
One year of grounds maintenance and landscape installation experience.
Valid NC driver’s license with clean driving record in past 3 years.
Able to obtain pesticide applicator license within 1 year.
Able to obtain forklift certification within 1 year.
Vaccinations for Hepatitis B or begun within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

Perform turf grass maintenance: edging, mowing, trimming, new installations.
Install and maintain irrigation systems.
Install and maintain shrubbery, perennials, and annuals.
Prune and shape shrubs and trees.
Apply pesticides, fertilizers, and nematicides as needed.
Apply mulch and pine straw.
Repair and maintain sidewalks (brick/concrete).
Maintain parking lots and streets; patching and repairs.
Litter control and campus recycling operations.
Preventive maintenance on grounds equipment.
Snow and ice removal during inclement weather; work during essential operations.
