Job summary

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, MA, is seeking a Facilities Manager to plan, direct, and supervise second shift operations, custodial care, and maintenance of campus buildings and residence areas. The role requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, and reports to the Interim Assistant Director of Facilities Management.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of experience in facilities management.
• Experience supervising in a collective bargaining environment preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, HAZMAT) and related practices.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally in written and oral form.

Responsibilities

• Plan the second shift maintenance and custodial care of campus buildings and residence areas.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate all second shift custodial staff; manage attendance, time-off approvals and overtime.
• Manage purchasing and inventory control of equipment, furnishings, materials and supplies for Operations and Maintenance.
• Provide weekly reports to the Interim Assistant Director of Facilities Management.
• Coordinate timely communications with departments to provide work status updates.
• Develop and implement staff training and development programs for Maintainers.
• Prepare performance evaluations for staff for review by the Interim Assistant Director.
• Address performance and disciplinary matters in coordination with HR and union agreements.
• Develop and maintain service standards in assigned work areas and evaluate staff work.
• Conduct daily walk-throughs and inspections of campus areas; address issues observed.
• Respond to campus emergencies and participate in on-call schedules.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, including safety procedures and policies.
• Assist with on-going project work and other duties as assigned.
