Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Project Manager to oversee design and construction of new buildings, demolitions, and renovations. The role includes inspecting contractor work for compliance with plans and regulations, and coordinating underground utilities marking to SC811 standards.

You will manage bid processes, lead site meetings, work with architects, engineers and campus users to ensure timely project completion, and prepare comprehensive reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field.
• Two years of related construction experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of construction codes and regulations.
• Understanding of SC OSE rules and procurement procedures.
• Proficiency with AutoCad and MS Project.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and construction schematics.
• Proven multitasking across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Participates in bid openings, evaluation of bid packages, contract negotiations and regularly scheduled construction site meetings.
• Directs onsite construction work for assigned projects as project manager/owner's representative, consulting with architects/engineers and construction crews to ensure full compliance with designs, plans, specifications, codes and other job-specific requirements.
• Prepares reports and meets with architects, engineers, contractors/subcontractors, campus users and other stakeholders from initial planning through project completion.
• Works with contractors, architects, engineers and users to develop punch lists and conducts inspections to ensure punch list items are completed to satisfaction.
• Coordinates project work with campus users, other project stakeholders and Facilities/EHS staff.
• Ensures work is completed to the satisfaction of plans, specifications, design intent and users prior to approving payment of partial or final invoices.
• Prepares specifications for bids for minor renovation, retrofit and repair projects as assigned, to include hiring a design firm and managing the design process and review/coordination of plans and specifications.
• Participates in pre-bid, pre-construction and negotiation conferences and conducts site visits.
• Oversees contractor work, ensuring compliance with specifications and codes.
• Meets regularly with contractors for progress reports, change orders and problem resolution.
• Reviews and approves construction documents.
• Coordinates project work with campus users, other project stakeholders and Facilities/EHS staff.
