Job summary

Metropolitan Community College-Kansas City seeks a Building Operations Manager to direct maintenance programs across campus facilities. You will lead a multi-craft team, coordinate external contractors, and implement preventive maintenance to maximize uptime while balancing capital renewal goals.

The role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of MEP systems, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This is an on-site, full-time position at MCC campuses.

Qualifications

• Ten years of professional facilities/maintenance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• CEFP/CFM or similar credentials preferred.
• OSHA certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and schedule daily work orders for critical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
• Supervise a team of 4–5 technicians and manage external contractors.
• Audit facilities to identify backlogs and safety risks.
• Develop and optimize PM schedules in CMMS.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and building codes.
• Monitor operating budgets and contribute to capital plans.
• Oversee repairs, renovations, and campus maintenance projects.
