Job summary

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, MA seeks a Facilities Manager for second shift operations, custodial care and maintenance of campus buildings and residence areas. The role requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, and reports to the Interim Assistant Director of Facilities Management.

You will supervise second shift staff, manage work orders, inventory, safety compliance and on-call duties. Hours are 3pm–11pm, Monday–Friday, with some weekends.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in facilities management.
• Experience supervising in a collective bargaining environment preferred.
• Knowledge of safety laws/regulations (OSHA, EPA, HAZMAT).
• Ability to develop and implement plans; strong communication skills.
• Proficient with computers, databases, work orders, and maintenance systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan second shift maintenance and custodial care for campus buildings and residence areas.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate all second shift custodial staff; manage attendance and overtime.
• Oversee purchasing and inventory control for facilities equipment and supplies.
• Provide weekly reports to the Interim Assistant Director of Facilities Management.
• Ensure timely work status communications to departments and stakeholders.
• Develop and implement staff training and development programs.
• Prepare performance evaluations for staff.
• Address disciplinary matters in collaboration with HR and union agreements.
• Conduct daily inspections of all campus areas and address concerns.
• Respond to campus emergencies and participate in on-call schedule.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, safety procedures and college policies.
