Job summary

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts seeks a Facilities Manager for the second shift to plan, direct, and supervise custodial care and maintenance of campus buildings and residence areas. The role requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, and reports to the Interim Assistant Director of Facilities Management.

Minimum five years in facilities management with OSHA/EPA/HAZMAT knowledge; OSHA 10-Hour preferred.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in facilities management.
• Experience supervising in a collective bargaining environment preferred.
• Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, HAZMAT); OSHA 10-Hour training preferred.
• Ability to develop, promote and implement plans and proposals.
• Strong ability to relate to others, supervise and motivate staff.
• Professional written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan the second shift maintenance and custodial care of campus buildings and residence areas.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate all second shift custodial staff; manage attendance and overtime.
• Manage purchasing and inventory control for operations and maintenance.
• Provide weekly reports to the Interim Assistant Director of Facilities Management.
• Communicate work status/updates to departments in a timely manner.
• Develop and implement staff training programs for Maintainers.
• Prepare performance evaluations for staff.
• Address performance and disciplinary matters in coordination with HR.
• Maintain service standards and evaluate staff performance.
• Conduct daily walk-throughs and inspections of campus areas.
• Respond to campus emergencies and critical incidents.
• Participate in on-call schedule; handle on-call duties.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies including HAZMAT and OSHA.
