Job summary

St. John’s Prep in Danvers, MA seeks an Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds to lead daily operations of the campus facilities, manage maintenance, events, safety, and grounds. The role reports to the Managing Director of Facilities.

You will supervise a diverse team, partner with external contractors, and drive long-range capital planning, ensuring reliable infrastructure and a safe, welcoming campus for students and staff.

Qualifications

• A degree in Facilities Management, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum five years building and grounds management experience and/or licensure in one or more relevant trades (plumbing, HVAC, pipefitting, electrical).

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule & supervision of facilities staff and outside contractors.
• Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks alongside the team.
• Manage vendor relationships including custodial, grounds, waste, and HVAC.
• Direct supervision of Facilities Maintenance and Custodial contractors.
• Plan, schedule and supervise maintenance/repair of campus buildings and equipment.
• Oversee maintenance of all vehicles and equipment owned or leased by the school.
• Coordinate setup, execution and teardown of school events and outside rentals.
• Coordinate with outside contractors and participate in snow/ice removal operations.
• Assist in long-range planning of campus infrastructure.
• Communicate progress of maintenance/construction projects.
• Use Incident IQ to monitor work requests and preventive maintenance.
• Assess team strengths and delegate tasks to maximize efficiency.
