Job summary

St. John’s Prep in Danvers, MA seeks an Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds to lead the daily operations of the campus, oversee maintenance, events, safety, and grounds, and coordinate with the Managing Director of Facilities.

The role requires a degree in facilities management or equivalent and at least five years of building and grounds management experience; hands-on maintenance and vendor management are key components.

Qualifications

• Degree in Facilities Management or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years building and grounds management experience.
• Experience with trades (plumbing, HVAC, electrical) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and supervise facilities staff and contractors.
• Perform skilled maintenance tasks (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC).
• Manage vendor relationships including custodial, grounds, waste, and HVAC.
• Supervise facilities maintenance and custodial contractors for quality work.
• Plan and supervise maintenance and repairs of buildings, equipment, and services.
• Oversee maintenance of vehicles and equipment owned or leased by the school.
• Coordinate event setup/teardown and outside rentals.
• Assist with long-range facilities planning and progress reporting.
• Utilize maintenance software to track requests and preventive maintenance.
• Mentor and develop team, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
