Job summary

The Hotchkiss School is seeking a Director of Facilities to lead a 60-person team responsible for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, grounds maintenance, and vendor services. The role drives strategic planning, capital projects, and safety/compliance to support the School's educational mission.

Required is a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least ten years of facilities management experience in an educational environment, with strong communication, budgeting, and sustainability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Architecture, Facility or Construction Management or related field.
• Ten years' experience managing facilities, preferably in an educational setting.
• Technological proficiency and knowledge of operations management software.
• Extensive knowledge of building codes, blueprints, safety and environmental regulations.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and to collaborate as a team.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leadership to keep campus best-in-class.
• Oversee renovations and building projects, managing budget and timeline.
• Lead the Facilities Department and supervise staff.
• Negotiate contracts with outside vendors and manage regulatory compliance.
• Prepare reports on budget, capital projects and maintenance status.
