Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University’s Division of Student Affairs is seeking a Building Coordinator to support Cohon University Center operations, events, and space management across multiple facilities. The role reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations and emphasizes safe, clean, and high‑quality service for facility users.

The position is on-site with a Tue–Sat schedule, occasional overtime during peak periods, and requires 3–5 years of related experience plus a high school

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of facility management and/or relevant work experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as facility supervisor and all associated responsibilities; Event support, customer service, access control, setup, and cleaning; Ensure the safety of all guests and events and triage any significant custodial or facilities issues that arise; Administer various facility policies and procedures; Ability to use Google Workspace, event reservation software, and other technologies; Provide guidance and support to student workers employed by the Cohon University Center
  • Proactively seek out and address issues related to cleaning and maintenance within the facilities, and track work orders to ensure completion
  • Space management and administration; Oversee storage space throughout the facilities
  • Partner with the office of Student Involvement and Traditions to co-administer student organization spaces
  • Partner with Student Affairs Facilities and Space Planning team to ensure facilities, equipment, and furniture are maintained at a high-level
  • Liaise with campus partners to ensure support of their spaces
  • Other projects as assigned by Cohon University Center leadership
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; customer service excellence; strong written communication and oral presentation skills that can be effective with varied audiences; broad knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Ability to cultivate a network across the organization and use relationships developed to improve departmental functioning
  • Adaptability, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Carnegie Mellon University
  • Ability to adapt to new tasks and technology as needed
