George Washington University’s Events & Venues department on the Foggy Bottom campus is seeking a temporary Venue Manager. This on-site, part-time, on-call role requires occasional nights and weekends and supports events for students, faculty, staff, and guests.

You will coordinate event logistics, serve as the primary contact for event hosts, manage setup and day-of changes, supervise staff and vendors, and enforce campus policies to ensure successful events across campus venues.

Qualifikationen

• Project management experience is preferred.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift objects over 25 lbs.
• Communication and writing skills with high attention to detail.
• A self-starter who will present options or solutions to realize our vision for events.

Aufgaben

• Coordinate and implement event logistics for events at various venues on campus
• Serve as a single point of contact for all event hosts’ needs as outlined in event planning documentation
• Open and close events
• Provide guidance, support, and direction on any day‑of changes for the event
• Check event room set‑ups and become familiar with the event's agenda
• Keep staff informed of any issues that may arise
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues, as well as escalates problems to the appropriate department for solutions
• Manage Housekeeping, Facilities, Catering, Audio Visual, IT, and event staff, including outside vendors, and direct any changes needed to preplanned services
• Enforce University policies, best practices, and any venue‑specific guidelines
• Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
