Job summary

Jackson State Community College is seeking a Campus Events Coordinator to plan, promote, and execute campus-wide events, ceremonies, and community engagement programs. You will collaborate across Student Life, Academic Affairs, Marketing, Athletics, and vendors to deliver inclusive, student-centered experiences from concept through completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, hospitality, business, higher education, student affairs, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• One to three years of experience in event planning, student activities, hospitality, or related coordination.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with students, faculty, staff, vendors, and community partners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to lift and move event materials.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute campus events and community engagement programming.
• Assist with annual signature events such as Convocation, Holiday Celebration, Graduation, and campus traditions.
• Collaborate with internal departments to align event goals and messaging.
• Manage event logistics: scheduling, reservations, catering, décor, transportation, equipment, vendors, signage, staffing.
• Develop event timelines and budgets and maintain fiscal responsibility.
• Coordinate day-of-event operations including setup, breakdown, and volunteer management.
• Ensure events are welcoming, inclusive, and accessible.
• Track attendance data and feedback to improve future programming.
• Support student engagement by developing leaders and training student workers as needed.
