Job summary

Oregon State University’s Department of Public Safety seeks an experienced Emergency Manager to lead the Emergency Preparedness program for OSU’s Corvallis campus and other locations. You will guide planning, training, budgeting, and exercises, coordinating with colleges, departments, and external agencies to enhance campus readiness and incident response.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Preparedness, Communications, Public Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional-level experience in emergency management and planning.
• Completion of ICS/ FEMA trainings within one year of hire (ICS100/200/300/400/700/800; E/L/K04479; O305; FEMA Basic Academy).
• Demonstrated experience with NIMS/ICS and emergency planning in large organizations.
• Knowledge of federal emergency planning techniques, emergency communications and related systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication and report-writing skills.
• Willingness to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and grow OSU’s Emergency Preparedness program.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the emergency preparedness unit.
• Plan, budget, train and program emergency preparedness and response.
• Coordinate with colleges, departments and units campus-wide.
• Liaise with city, county and state agencies for planning and recovery.
• Design and conduct exercises for leadership and campus.
• Develop EOC/IMT and campus-level planning and response plans.
• Build knowledge of campus operations to coordinate cross-campus response.
