Job summary

University of Washington Tacoma seeks an Emergency Preparedness Specialist to enhance campus readiness across departments. You will develop and refine protocols, train staff, and lead drills while coordinating with UW Emergency Management and EH&S.

The role emphasizes policy development, business continuity planning, and cross-campus coordination to promote a culture of safety and preparedness at UWT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combo of education, certs and experience.
• Three+ years of progressive emergency management, risk management or regulatory compliance experience.
• Experience conducting training programs, procedures, or emergency response activities.
• Ability to communicate with diverse audiences effectively.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement emergency preparedness assessment frameworks for long-term effectiveness.
• Schedule drills and exercises to test emergency response plans across organizational levels.
• Collaborate with labs, PIs, EH&S, and campus partners to improve safety policies and SOPs.
• Coordinate with UW Emergency Management to align with university-wide standards.
• Produce and maintain documentation for preparedness activities and training.
• Assist with budget guidance and procurement for emergency supplies.
