Job summary

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks an Electrician II to install, operate, and maintain electrical systems on the campus. You will work with contractors and other crafts, train craft assistants, and provide strong customer service for internal and external customers.

Responsibilities include pulling wire, bending conduit, maintaining lighting, panelboards, transformers, and generators, and assisting with events.

Qualifications

Trade school in industrial electricity with two years’ experience or four years as journeyman.
Experience bending conduit, pulling wire, working on live electrical equipment.
Experience leading others in the performance of the craft.
Experience with U.T. Physical Plant procedures.
Experience working within a large university campus setting.
Some training or experience in electronics.

Responsibilities

Pulling wire and making up panel boards and other electrical equipment.
Bending, threading, and installing conduit as necessary.
Maintains lighting systems and controls of various types.
Maintains panelboards and switchboards of various types and sizes.
Maintains transformers, motors, and generators.
Troubleshooting, maintaining, and installing electrical systems and related components.
Working special events, continuing education, assisting contractors and other crafts, etc.
Studying blueprints, taking off materials, and picking up materials for projects.
