Job summary

University of Kansas Facilities Services is seeking a General Maintenance Repair Tech - Electrical to join a team performing maintenance and emergency repairs on campus buildings, with work in multiple trades. The role involves responding to emergencies, performing electrical tasks, and supporting other trades as needed.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, 1 year in a skilled trade, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• One year of experience in a skilled craft area; vocational certificate or associate degree may substitute for the experience.
• Valid driver’s license by time of hire and throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• 50%: Basic electrical repairs including relamping, ballast changes, and outlet/switch repair; may assist more complex issues (breaker, wiring, fire alarm).
• 40%: Respond to emergency calls to restore utilities or equipment; reset breakers and assist with repairs.
• 5%: Other related work; maintain tools, respond to after-hours emergencies, assist with snow removal and other areas.
• 5%: Performs other related work as assigned.
