Job summary

Kansas State University Food Service Worker (Temp) position is part of a dining services team delivering quality meals to students and guests in a large residence hall dining center. Shifts vary and the position is temporary, with the possibility to work up to 999 hours in a 12-month period.

The role covers food prep, setup of service areas, ware washing, dining room cleaning, and assisting with training hourly student staff.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of large scale food preparation, equipment, health sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Ability to interact with others effectively, harmoniously, and in a courteous, pleasant manner.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to learn to perform basic math computations; to accurately weigh and measure ingredients.

Responsibilities

• Preparing basic entrees and side dishes using standardized recipes and procedures.
• Setting-up and preparing service platforms, salad bar, fruit/dessert area, and dining room areas for service of food.
• Providing for customer needs during meal service.
• Participating in daily meetings and effectively interacting with others.
• Operating, cleaning, and sanitizing equipment in ware washing area and dish return belts. Cleaning and sanitizing all tableware trays, utensils, pots, pans.
• Cleaning dining facility.
• Laundering, folding, and storing linens.
• May provide training and guidance to hourly student employees.
