Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a Salaried Sous Chef for Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL. You will support culinary operations for student dining, supervise and assist in food preparation, and help develop daily menus and garnishments.

You may supervise hourly associates and collaborate with marketing and culinary teams to develop new programs and assist with ordering. This role offers growth potential within a rapidly expanding operation and a chance to impact campus dining.

Qualifications

A.S. or equivalent experience required.
Culinary/kitchen management experience.
Experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations.
Institutional/batch cooking experience helpful.
Knowledge of food trends, sanitation, cost controls, presentation.
Proficiency with computers.
ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the team with managing cost controls and expenditures.
Assist with planning and creating menus.
Produce and execute catering events.
Roll out new culinary programs with marketing and culinary teams.
Foster client relationships to align programs with objectives and drive satisfaction.
Support efficient dining service operations.
