Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin UHD seeks a Dining Assistant Manager to oversee the daily operations of a large residential dining facility on the main campus, lead a diverse team of full-time, part-time, student, and temporary staff, and ensure a consistently safe, clean, and welcoming dining environment for all guests.

This role reports to the General Manager and collaborates with the culinary, service, and marketing teams to deliver high‑quality meals, manage inventories, monitor food cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in business, nutrition, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of management experience in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility.
• Experience operating a standard kitchen and following food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily service operations to ensure food quality, safety, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction; act as manager-on-duty during shifts.
• Lead and develop dining staff, conduct interviews, onboarding, training, and scheduling; monitor performance and provide feedback.
• Support customer-first culture, resolve concerns, and collaborate with UHD Marketing for promotions and events.
• Monitor food cost, labor, inventory, and use FoodPro for forecasting, ordering, and cost evaluation.
