Job summary

University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee is seeking a Food Service Manager to oversee Cambridge Commons dining operations, supervise full-time, part-time, and student staff, and ensure adherence to food quality, handling, and sanitation standards.

The role plans, coordinates, and delivers all food and related activities for events, manages front-of-house service, inventory, budgets, and system operations, reporting to the Associate Director of Residential Dining Services.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent education and/or work experience.
• Three (3) years' experience in a variety of foodservice operations.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Operations Management: Establish operating and staff schedules for all units.
• Operations Management: Oversee daily floor operations to meet changing demands.
• Operations Management: Direct staff on policies to ensure safe food quality and sanitation.
• Operations Management: Manage payroll, budgeting, billing, and inventory reports.
• Staff Onboarding, Training, and Development: Coach and mentor staff for engagement and growth.
• Staff Onboarding, Training, and Development: Set performance expectations and provide instruction.
• Staff Onboarding, Training, and Development: Schedule and assign kitchen cleaner tasks.
• Staff Onboarding, Training, and Development: Recruit, hire, develop, and discipline as needed.
• Consistent and Outstanding Customer Service: Gather customer feedback and respond to surveys.
• Consistent and Outstanding Customer Service: Inform leadership about issues and actions.
• Consistent and Outstanding Customer Service: Ensure adherence to standards and policies.
• Consistent and Outstanding Customer Service: Support marketing, advertising, and special events.
• Administrative Duties: Create financial and related reports.
• Administrative Duties: Monitor food and labor records and ensure transaction accuracy.
• Administrative Duties: Lead vendor and health department reviews.
