Job summary

Kirtland Community College in Grayling, MI, is seeking a Food Service Director to lead the campus dining program. You will manage a talented culinary and hospitality team, drive dining quality, and balance great food with exceptional service and strong financial results.

The role focuses on budgeting, staff development, and delivering a memorable campus dining experience for students and staff. A bachelor’s degree is preferred or 10 years of managerial experience in lieu of degree.

Qualifications

• Culinary experience and food service background – required.
• Experience managing budgets, purchasing, labor, and operating costs.
• ServSafe Certification required.
• Demonstrated success leading a food service operation and culinary team.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to coach, develop, and motivate a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of food service operations and ensure standards.
• Create an engaging dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and guests.
• Monitor sales, labor, food costs, safety, and compliance.
• Lead and develop the culinary and hospitality team.
• Partner with the Operations Director to achieve account goals.
