Job summary

UC Irvine is seeking a journeyman level cook to join Dining Services on a 10-month, 100% position. Under supervision of the Food Service Manager, you will handle food preparation, proper handling, knife safety, sanitation, and plating, and assist with catering and events.

The role requires 1-3 years of experience in large-scale kitchens, ability to work weekends and evenings, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years experience as a cook in large quantity food preparation.
• 1-3 years experience in a food handling environment.
• 1-3 years experience working in the food service industry.

Responsibilities

• Journeyman level food preparation under supervision of the Food Service Manager or Sr. Cook.
• Proper food handling, knife and equipment handling, sanitation and cleaning of equipment.
• Record product usage, plating, portion control, cooking, and assisting in catering and special events.
