Qualifications

  • Education: Requires a formal degree in Interior Design, Architecture or closely related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
  • Preferred: Planning or project manager role in higher education, commercial interior/architectural design, K-12, real estate or other commercial settings.
  • Certification/Licensing: Registered Interior Designer, Engineer, or Architect in the State of TX.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in project scoping, budgeting, and scheduling for projects ranging from renovations to new construction.
  • Oversees feasibility and programming studies to ensure alignment with university mission and campus plans.
  • Manages professional services of consultants and vendors for planning initiatives.
  • Oversees FF&E selection, procurement, and installation for identified projects.
  • Creates design concepts, space plans, and test fits for identified projects.
  • Reviews schematic design, design development and construction documents from concept to completion.
  • Coordinates with project planners, managers, facility managers and engineers on facility design.
  • Evaluates campus space and makes enhancement recommendations including FF&E and planning.
  • Tracks and documents project uses with management software; reports to stakeholders.
  • Ensures projects comply with Master Plan and Campus Guidelines; assists in creation and management of these documents.
  • Coordinates campus partner meetings and project handoffs to construction teams.
  • Leads process improvements and collaborates with departmental staff to ensure project success.
