Job summary

Stony Brook University is seeking a Motor Vehicle Operator to deliver items across campus and operate vehicles with heavy loads. The role requires safe operation of forklifts and pallet jacks, loading and unloading freight, and maintaining delivery records. You may pick up archive boxes and perform related duties as needed.

The position is full-time (37.5 hours/week), with a 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule, and requires clearance of a background investigation.

Qualifications

• Candidate must possess a New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
• Must be able to move heavy objects.
• Must have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.

Responsibilities

• Sorts and delivers incoming mail and intra campus mail. Operates a motor vehicle safely and cautiously.
• Safely operates all mechanical equipment including forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and lift gates. Loads and unloads trucks for deliveries.
• Picks up archive boxes for storage and records all deliveries.
• Inspects vehicle and equipment for safety and reports issues to supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned by rank and department.
