Job summary

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is seeking a Custodian to join the Custodial team. Duties include cleaning classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas across campus facilities, using power equipment and following safety procedures.

UWO offers a strong benefits package and bonus programs; new custodial staff may receive a $1,000 recruitment bonus after probation and a $1,000 retention bonus after one year. Work hours may include evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to assess workload, troubleshoot problems, and prioritize tasks.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical labor including lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, stooping, twisting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a custodial team.
• Understand and follow safety regulations and use PPE.
• Ability to read/understand chemical labels and signs.
• Must pass a pre-work screen and possibly WI Driver’s license.
• Flexibility to work hours including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes basic equipment to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables.
• Maintains clean and clear walkways free of debris, snow, and ice.
• Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs.
• Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, inventories and requests supplies.
• Monitors and secures facility entrances and reports issues.
