Job summary

Tidewater Community College invites applications for a Custodian (Morning) at Norfolk campus. The role covers custodial/housekeeping duties including trash removal, floor care, window cleaning, and event setup. The position is essential and requires reliable attendance.

Work hours are Monday to Friday 8am–2:30pm, with rotating Saturdays; part-time up to 29 hours. Applicants must meet AHP eligibility requirements per Virginia guidelines and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of custodial operations and industry standards.
• Working knowledge of janitorial, custodial, housekeeping services and sanitizing techniques.
• Ability to climb ladders without assistance.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Skills in using housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaner, buffers and scrubbing machine.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to equipment operation, chemicals, trash/recycling.

Responsibilities

• Provide cleaning services to college buildings including trash removal, mopping, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming.
• Assist in set up and takedown of special events when assigned.
• Perform light bulb replacement and other tasks as assigned.
• Maintain good attendance and report to work as required.
• Report to work during inclement weather and assist in snow removal when needed.
