Job summary

Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads for 50 years and now seeks a Lead Custodian for the Norfolk area. The role involves janitorial and housekeeping duties across college facilities, including trash removal, cleaning, floor care, and room setup.

You will assist the Custodial Manager in supervising staff and maintaining high standards of cleanliness. This essential, full-time position runs Monday through Friday, 3:00pm–11:30pm, with occasional weekends, and requires driving

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of the principles and practices of janitorial, custodial, and housekeeping services.
• Knowledge of custodial operations and industry standards
• Ability to climb ladders without assistance
• Ability to lift objects not more than 50 lbs
• Valid driver’s license
• Experience in a janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping operations as a shift leader

Responsibilities

• Provides custodial/ housekeeping services for college facilities, including trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, floor care, carpet cleaning, window cleaning.
• Performs room set-up/take-down as assigned and reports any problems to Managers.
• Maintains good attendance and assists Custodial Manager in selecting, training and evaluating other housekeepers.
• Essential position designated; may be required to report to work during campus closures due to weather or emergencies.
