Job summary

Loyola Marymount University is seeking a Custodial Services Supervisor to plan, coordinate, and direct custodial operations across campus. The role focuses on maintaining safe, clean facilities and supervising staff to ensure high service standards.

You will recruit, hire, train, and evaluate personnel; manage payroll and overtime; oversee work orders in the CMMS; enforce safety standards; and collaborate with vendors and campus departments to meet daily and event-related needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field or demonstrated work experience in a university/hospitality setting.
• Minimum of five years of supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills to guide a skilled labor team.
• Ability to build relationships with management, staff, vendors and customers.
• Proficiency with computers and basic software (Outlook, Word, Excel); experience with work order/record-keeping systems is highly desirable.
• Exemplary written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey directions clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a 24/7 fully occupied facility.
• Willingness to respond to campus issues outside standard hours; weekend/evening shifts may be required.
• Valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of custodial staff including recruitment, hire, development, performance review, disciplinary actions, and staffing schedules.
• Approve payroll and coordinate HR issues; interface with other university departments as required.
• Lead safety initiatives and enforce PPE usage and regulatory guidelines.
• Inspect and supervise preventative and corrective custodial maintenance; utilize CMMS to create and track work orders.
• Coordinate staffing for special events such as athletics, conferences, and academic functions.
• Assist in evaluating capital projects and asset renewal; review vendor proposals and contract administration.
• Help develop Facilities Management policies, processes, and procedures.
• Maintain PPE, supplies, and equipment within approved budget.
• Represent LMU in professional associations and committees as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
